BPSF Mission
The Bellingham Public School Foundation (BPSF) partners with the community to build awareness and support to help fund the best possible education for all students in Bellingham Public Schools.
How?
We support the Bellingham Promise. We believe great teaching with strong support is vital. Our monies will support the four pillars that comprise the key strategies outlined by the district to support the Bellingham Promise.
In concert with Bellingham Public Schools, the Foundation:
- Supports the community’s interest and investment in public schools by articulating giving opportunities that align with district priorities, and cultivating support for new and/or unmet needs.
- Acts as an agent for reducing the achievement gap by recognizing and addressing disparities between district schools and aligning funding with need.
- Creates functional partnerships with other community organizations with similar interests to increase cooperation and support, reducing redundancy and confusion.
Why A Foundation?
Donors to BPSF know that a well-rounded education takes more resources than a basic one. With the present economic climate, dwindling state funds and our continuing drive for innovation and academic excellence, the needs of our schools are great and ongoing.
Around the country, Foundations are becoming a vital source of funding, not just to provide the extras, but as the "third leg" required to maintain stability for local educators and school systems. Donors to the Foundation facilitate the enrichment activities, supplemental materials and extra support our community's students deserve to reach their potential.
