THANK YOU to all who turned out for the 4th Annual 5K Race for Education.

  • Enjoyed by over 400 runners, walkers and volunteers!
  • $12,000 raised to directly benefit students through BPSF and Community In Schools (CIS) programs.
  • Lowell Elementary won the prize for the highest percentage of school community participation, taking home the commemorative banner AND bragging rights. Honorable mentions to Fairhaven Middle, Silver Beach, Geneva and Sunnyland.
  • Valuable community support from event sponsors WECU and Fred Meyer
  • The top three finishers: 
    • Male: Ken Koenig 17:33, Tommy Lingbloom 18:10, Nels Postma 18:30
    • Female: Alma McMurty 18:59, Theresa Westfall 20:17,  Emmie Sullivan 21:20
    • Student runners with top 20 finish: Sam Hunter, Logan Sitkin, Emmie Sullivan, Rosie Kirker, Christopher Lo, Zach Shenkin.

Thanks also to host school Sehome High whose band turned out in force to accompany the runners, cheer squad provided lots of PEP, and whose leadership class joined the entire WWU Women's Basketball team as energetic volunteers.
