Bellingham Public School Foundation 2nd Annual Hungry Minds Breakfast Doubles Dollars

The Bellingham Public School Foundation (BPSF) held its 2nd annual fundraising breakfast, The Hungry Minds Breakfast, on Tuesday, April 30
at Whatcom Middle School. The event was a success by all measures nearly doubling both attendance and proceeds over last year’s inaugural event.
Breakfast proceeds total over $42,000 from sponsors and donors, dollars that will help fund programs benefitting students and fulfilling requests from
teachers, schools, and the district. Most important, the event continues the foundation’s efforts to ensure that the Bellingham School District can provide
the best possible education to all students in Bellingham Public Schools. The assembled group represented a wide cross section of local businesses, parents, staff, and community members who demonstrated an outpouring of positive support. They enjoyed the program and the company, especially Mike Copland of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

Jeff Coulter, Whatcom Middle School principal and the event host said, “Thank you to BPSF for your continued efforts to support schools across our district.”

BPSF partners with the community to build awareness and support to help fund the best possible education for all students in Bellingham Public Schools. Our work is defined by the priorities established by the district and described in the Bellingham Promise. Central to the Promise is “Great Teaching with Strong Support” which extends to specific areas including Early Childhood Education, Innovation and Flexibility, a One Schoolhouse Approach, and Student, Family and Community Engagement.

Event sponsors, The Unity Group and IMCO Construction were joined by many local businesses sponsoring tables including AXA Advisors, Bellingham Cold Storage, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Birch Equipment, Business Bank, Chmelik, Sitkin & Davis, Dawson Construction, McDonalds, Park Manor, Peoples Bank, Phillips 66, Sanitary Service, Starbucks, Sleepmasters, WECU and Yorkston Oil.
